You’ve probably heard that Dubai is one of the most popular travel destinations in the world, but you might not know exactly why. Over the past decade, the city has consistently found itself in the top three when it comes to the best place to live in the world, and since it was founded, it has been a center of culture and innovation.

With so much to see and do, it can be hard to decide how to spend your time during your visit to Dubai – but don’t worry, here’s our guide to spending holidays in Dubai!

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) consists of seven emirates, each ruled by an absolute monarch; that means there’s no democracy here. But it also means you can do whatever you want as long as you don’t get on their bad side. And not everyone does.

You might be surprised to learn that Dubai is one of the most liberal cities in all of Arabia—and even more surprising is how much fun it is for visitors. While some countries are still debating whether or not women should be allowed to drive, UAE has given women their freedom behind the wheel for years now. It’s even home to one of only three female-only gyms in all of Saudi Arabia—and women make up over 50% of total gym memberships!

Dubai International Airport

Fly to Dubai. Home to one of the most famous skylines in UAE, one could be mistaken into thinking that it’s an attraction on its own. De facto airport for those who don’t live or work around other Emirates, it’s an important part of any visit. The airport itself is a marvel of modern architecture, and well worth at least half-an-hour of your time. Don’t miss snacking on some local specialties from Sharaf DG as you wait for your flight.

Rental cars are available at Dubai International Airport, making it easy to rent a car in Dubai and start exploring your new city. After you’ve picked up your car, consider booking a car-sharing service through your app of choice.

Al Maktoum International Airport

If you’re flying into Dubai, we’d recommend flying into Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). Located around 24 kilometres from Jumeirah Beach Hotel and about 30 kilometres from Burj Khalifa, it is often considered one of most beautiful airports in world. The airport is currently ranked seventh busiest airport worldwide and third busiest airport in Middle East, serving over 60 million passengers annually.
